Beauty and fashion lovers rejoice! Karl Lagerfeld and Japanese make-up artist Shu Uemura, which I am now referring to as the “Beauty Dream Team”, have paired up to create an exceptional collection of 17 pieces consisting of everything you can think of from cleansers to eye shadow palettes. I think every beauty junkie already owns a Shu Uemura eyelash curler but to have one co-designed by a fashion God is pretty major!
It only seemed fitting for these two to collaborate seeing as though Lagerfeld, aka “The Kaiser”, has been using Shu Uemura’s eye shadows to colour his sketches for several years. And sticking to this unusual artistic tradition, the designer used actual kohl and eye shadow from the line to develop the artwork for the mega beauty brand.

The logo for the Karl x Shu line is of the collection’s muse, “Mon Shu Girl” and she’s a character drawn by hand of course. Mon Shu is the perfect juxtaposition of Japanese Harajuku girl meets European style…with her look also inspired by Lagerfeld’s uniform of a crisp, white shirt and black tie.
I just got a sneak peak of the range…and it’s RIDICULOUS. The eyelash curler with the mini Mon Shu hanging from it – brilliant! Some of my other favs; the painting eyeliner and the eye & cheek palette in Smokey Velvet. Just in time for the holiday season, the collection lands in stores tomorrow (Nov. 1st) Exclusively at Holt Renfrew in Canada and Selfridges & Harrods in England.
