Over the past few years I have shamelessly become addicted to reality television, so much so, that I am sure my fiancee wanted to have me checked into CAMH (the Center for Addiction & Mental Health). Well, of course there were some exceptions as I always made time for HBO original programming – the writing is insane! Luckily for me, my bestie Antonia introduced me to an ABC series last year called Revenge and I have now made more room for scripted television in my life… and have fallen in love with Brit expat/series regular, Ashley Madekwe.
In the show, Madekwe‘s character, ironically also named Ashley, dresses in vibrant, sophisticated colours by a myriad of designers from J. Mendel to Rachel Roy, thanks to Jill Ohanneson, the show’s resident Costume Designer. Her character’s style is architectural, fashion-forward, and bold – I swear, her outfits literally shut s%#! down like a bad Ferris wheel. Needless to say, between the fashion and quick paced plot (and I mean Usain Bolt quick) I am totally hooked!
Ohanneson goes out of her way to make it quite evident, the Ashley Davenport character isn’t from the Hamptons, where the show takes place. But rather a London girl who moved to NYC ,but is now working her way into the privileged and elite in the Hamptons. As a result, the sultry stunner comes across far more edgy than her co-stars. Although I adore her Revenge style, it’s her personal style aesthetic I DIE for. Think Olivia Palermo with an eclectic, downtown-girl, vibe. Clearly, I am not the only one who adores her fashion liberal look. Well over 15K fashionistas follow her blog Ring My Bell on Bloglovin’ in addition to her Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook pages.
In regards to mixing high priced threads with budget items, I can’t exactly say Ashley has reached Ms. Palermo’s “Mix Master” status, but if Olivia is the Queen of high/low fashion, then Ashley Madekwe is the Princess.
XO,
S
