Not really sure why, but there is something about beautifully curated and designed store windows during this time of the year that gets me into the holiday spirit. Whether it’s in Toronto at Holt’s Bloor location, in NYC at Bergdorf’s, Neiman’s or Barney’s or in London at Harrods. When I heard about the press event that took place last night at Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship location (received word about it two days prior, so last minute is an understatement) I was saddened that I couldn’t make it but luckily enough one of my angels Michael Bociurkiw of My Savvy Traveller was able to attend and report back to me.
During the evening’s festivities, the entire Saks Fifth Ave flagship store came completely alive with an overly dramatic light show projected onto the building, titled “Snowflake Spectacular”. Snowflakes, dancers and a Yeti (also known as the Abominable Snowman) interacted on the facade of the store via state-of-the-art projection technology – like I expected anything less! Helping Saks CEO, Steve Sadove entertain the guests of honor was the American Ballet Theatre Dancers and special performance by country artist and Celebrity Apprentice All-Star, Trace Adkins. Special treat was designer darling Thakoon, who was part of the third installment of the SiriusXM series “Fashion Insider” with Fern Mallis, who has been widely credited as the creator of fashion week in NYC.
If you are not privileged enough to be in NYC during the holidays, here’s a peek at some of the window displays that was unveiled last night…
Seeing these window displays means only one thing…that Christmas is fast approaching and I need to get my butt in gear and begin my shopping. Best of luck to those you who are bravely heading out for Black Friday sales this U.S. Thanksgiving weekend!
XO,
S
