I'm SASHA!

Welcome to my Blog! Happy to have you on the journey.

hello,

If you want to get transported into a chic, retail parallel universe then you MUST check out the newly opened, Black Caviar. Opened just over a month ago by beautiful besties Julia DeRubeis and Sanela Sehic, this unique boutique, located just outside of downtown Toronto, will not fail to take your breath away. The duo, who met back in 2009 while working at BCBG, spent about 24 months culminating ideas and putting this labor of love together. After speaking with the pair, it is quite evident that they are a retail match made in heaven. With Sanela’s passion and experience in the beauty industry – she owned SKIN,where they provided custom facials and carried luxury, high-end beauty products (some of which are now carried at Black Caviar) and Julia’s eye for design and love for fashion and accessories, they were each able to bring something unique to the table. Luckily for Julia, they scooped up this space and gutted it immediately, giving her carte blanche in respects to design and decor.

Almost passing by the shop, because with it’s stunning black awning, it more closely resembles one of the restaurants on the Lakeshore strip, I seriously was not sure what to expect inside. I was impressed to say the least with the merchandising lay-out, decor, design and the brands they carry, which are all beautifully and strategically curated in this minimalist space. Full of one-of-a-kind pieces on the wall, like the “Ballerina” (artwork from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album) screened on a silk scarf and framed by the entrance. I almost didn’t believe what I was seeing when I noticed the I.D. tags stating, “Limited Edition of 100 scarf by Kanye West x George Condo x M/M Paris” *swoon*.

“Ballerina” by Kanye West x George Condo x M/M Paris Limited Edition of 100 Scarf taken with my iPhone to which was immediately posted to Instagram, of course!

Black Caviar is truly a lifestyle oasis; carrying beauty brands like Sara Happ, Tata Harper, Eve Lom, Rodin, Herve Herau and the dream-like scents of Costes signature fragrances and candles all they way from the Hotel Costes in Paris…I mean, come on!!!! And honestly, you could not find anymore exclusive clothing and accessories in this city (Zadig & Voltaire, Banjo & Matilda, Tom and Hawk Men’s sweaters, cashmere scarves by Forget Me Not, resort wear from Charlie by Matthew Zink, clutches by Kotur, luxe leather travel carry-on bags by Clare Vivier, and bling by Eddie Borgo and Vita Fede) – just saying! It is clear that the girl’s extensive world-wide travel has been the main inspiration behind their buying process.

Just when I thought the shopping experience could not be anymore insane, the ladies also offer St. Tropez airbrush applications to help with drab, pale winter skin (obvi, the only thing I won’t be getting from the store). They can also provide a personal consultation, expertly do the airbrushing for you or can teach you some handy techniques and tricks for when using the line’s “at-home” products. And last but not least, personal concierge services, consisting of customized gifting from Black Caviar or personal shopping for you from any other store/boutique. If you are planning a honeymoon post nuptials, like I am, they can actually come to your house, edit your wardrobe and style every outfit for your trip…sweet!
