As a self proclaimed fashion fanatic, I am still addicted to “The September Issue“, the behind the scenes doc about Vogue magazine, it’s most infamous and important issue released each September, and all the people that come together to make it happen – Anna, Andre, Grace, etc. I could watch this film everyday for 20 years and not get bored. So you could only imagine my extreme excitement when I heard about the upcoming Vogue doc, “In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye”. The film will debut on HBO this Thursday, December 6that 9pm, which coincides with the mag’s 120th anniversary.
From what I am hearing, it is NOT a sequel to the aforementioned film but what we are supposed to see is a background look at some of the hardest working editor’s in publishing, who come together to make our beloved monthly fashion bible. Contributors to the film include famed E.I.C. of course, Anna Wintour, Creative Director Grace Coddington (whose new memoir is on sale now), Camilla Nickerson, Tonne Goodman (one of my fav fashion editor’s), Polly Allen Mellen, Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele, Babs Simpson and Phyllis Posnick. Also in the mix, we will find candid interviews from Nicholas Ghesquiere, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, SJP and Alber Elbaz.
“It is a family” says Wintour of Vogue’s legendary editors. “It’s a slightly dysfunctional family, but we are very close. They all have genius in them”. Check out the first look of the mag’s fashion contributors below:
Also check out “The Editor’s Eye”, a book on the same subject, that was published in early October.
