What inspired you to start your blog? How long has it been around?

Over the years, people have asked me a ton of questions regarding where I travel, what I am eating, where I shop, and what I do to stay in shape, so I figured maybe there is some room for my little blog after all. SoSasha.com was launched 8 months ago back in October 2012. I thought about starting it for quite some time but had apprehensions about entering the over-saturated “blogsphere”.

Where did you come up with the name “So Sasha”?

I cannot take full credit for the name. After much brainstorming and deliberating, I had not come up with anything that I felt was dope enough. Anytime my ex would see something that reminded him of me he would always say, “That’s So Sasha!”, so I went with that. I feel that the blog totally reflects who I am and what I am about right now in my life so the name couldn’t be more fitting.

Do you have a “day-time” job? If yes, where is it/what do you do?

I have worked in the Marketing field for a long time with some great global companies – Imperial Tobacco and with the premium brands Kitchenaid and Jenn-Air under Whirlpool Corporation, but have recently departed to pursue something on my own, as my own boss, in a related field.

MUST HAVE Summer wardrobe piece?

My “MUST-HAVE” Summer wardrobe piece has to be leather shorts. Over the past year I’ve literally become obsessed with leather and added so many pieces during the Fall/Winter season that can’t exactly be worn during the Summer. I am stoked to have found a chic pair so I can still rock the leather look during the Summer heat.

Who or what inspires you?

For me, inspiration comes from everywhere. I’m inspired by my bother and the other strong, fabulous women in my life. I often times find inspiration in music, art, film and savvy sleuthing travels around the world.

Most memorable moment of So Sasha?

Hands down, my most memorable over the last 8 months has to be attending World Mastercard Fashion Week as accredited media for the first time.

Top 3 favourite places to shop?

1. Holt Renfrew: for timeless, classic and luxe pieces

2. Zara: I am amazed at how they have such trendy pieces inspired from looks right off the runway at such affordable prices

3. Black Caviar: One of the most gorgeous retail boutique spaces I’ve ever seen. They carry the coolest brands (Edith A. Miller, Tom Binns, LemLem, CharliebyMZ, Rodin, Tata Harper and Hotel Costes lifestyle products from Paris. It’s like shopping at The Webster in Miami but just outside of Toronto.

What are you most excited for this Summer?

Most excited for some rooftop pool chilling with my girlies and heading to NYC for the U.S. Open!

Best advice you would give to an aspiring blogger…

Stay true to yourself and blog about what you love and inspires you. If your blog is visually driven, make sure your photos are killer and if your blog has more written content, make sure that your personality shines through your writing so it sets you apart from the rest of the pack. Last but not least, CONTENT is KING!
