As much as I love fashion, I’m equally obsessed with interior design and my idea of the perfect weekend would be literally watching HGTV all day only to take periodic washroom breaks and creep interior design inspiration on Pinterest during commercial breaks.  I mean…fashion and interior design are closely related in my personal opinion so I’ve decided to come clean with my addiction to interior design and share some of the inspiring interiors I stumble across.

Over the past few years I have become slightly obsessed with Erika Bearman, the brunette turned blonde (but now back to brunette I think!), fashion savvy Senior Vice-President of Communications for Oscar de la Renta and to be honest, spend more time than I would like to admit creeping her instagram and repinning her posts on Pinterest like a lunatic. Earlier this year I got a chance to meet the stunning and intelligent goddess, who used to post faceless selfies in beautiful ODLR gowns, at a Holt Renfrew event and realized then and there, when I died, I wanted to come back as her.

With a lust worthy closet and successful career working with one of the world’s most renowned designers, it comes as no shock that Bearman’s weekend retreat property with her Investment Banker hubby reflects her fashionable taste. The couple scooped up this Southampton Village home from 1910 two years ago and chose Interior Decorator Miles Redd, who happens to also be the Creative Director for Oscar de la Renta Home Collection, to create the dream summer home filled with texture, glamour and tons of colour.

Throughout the property there is select furniture and art pieces from Christie’s, a mixture of rich wall paints, textured wallpapers by Marthe Armitage and Lee Jofa, bed linens by Schweitzer Linen and the floors are painted with special, high-gloss custom colours, which are usually only reserved for hulls of yachts. Always an admirer of those that can mix both high and low finds, I love how the kitchen contains top of the line Sub-Zero wine cooler and fridge, a Viking commercial gas range with a custom hood but the custom cabinetry has handles from Restoration Hardware and the wall clock is the exact same one I own from Ikea. Bearman and Redd clearly took the approach to buy based on what looked good to them and not just about what was expensive as I’ve spotted quite a few items from the Swedish retailer in the home – which is quite refreshing.

Usually utilized in kitchens as a back-splash or in bathroom showers, Redd covered the entire kitchen walls with white subway tiles. Definitely an unexpected choice but somehow it actually works in this space and goes well with the large lion print from Natural Curiosities, over-sized pendant lighting and high gloss white floors.
