Isn’t every woman’s dream to find that perfect dress that accentuates all their assets, conceals flaws and creates a figure flattering shape? Yes I know that sounds like the fashion holy grail but I found out a few weeks ago that it does actually exist…in the form of Bazzul’s Ready-to-Wear collection. BAZZUL, a Canadian label created by Toronto based designer Felicia Burke, has been kicking around for a couple of years but the focus has gone from one-of-a-kind custom pieces, then transitioned to denim before finding it’s sweet spot in making sleek and stylish dresses that not only caters to a wide variety of personal styles but are also appealing on different body types.
I got a chance to meet Burke in her Toronto design studio during fashion week and I fell in love with both her and the collection immediately. Remember that uber cool chick in high school that all the girls wanted to be and all the boys wanted to be with – well yeah, that’s quintessentially Felicia! The sexy strategic cut-outs, the tasteful slits and the fact that each one fits a woman’s body like the clothing equivalent of Spanx quickly put BAZZUL on my radar.
The range of classic silhouettes come in some gorge colours such as; pink (not picutred), taupe, and cerulean (also known as blue for those who never watched The Devil Wears Prada). If breaking away from “Basic Black” gives you some anxiety, Burke will give you encouragement to experiment because majority of her pieces are 100% reversible, so you can still more or less get your fave style in black and another colour of your choice for the price of one *feel free to pick your mouth up from the floor* Oh…and did I forget to mention the material doesn’t require the garments to be dry cleaned or ironed and is super easy to pack into the smallest of travel bags for a quick trip…honestly, I think writing this post has convinced me to purchase one in every colour imaginable. You can browse and buy pieces from the current BAZZUL 2013 collection now on www.shoppalu.com and www.bazzul.com.
