Fans of street style legend and E.I.C of Vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo, would be more than familiar with the Jil Sander veiled beanie she has been caught wearing a couple times…if you haven’t, then stop reading this post right now and view this image here. Who would have thought a veil and toque combination would have looked so chic?! Personally, I am really into the look and have been wanting a way to have a “veiled toque” moment on the blog and Pink Tartan’s Shane Coleman finally made that a reality!

There are two things you will rarely see me do both on the blog and in every day life; 1) Wear a skirt with no stockings in mid winter in minus degree temperatures and 2) Wear a head to toe look all from one brand. Both of these rules were happily broken recently to shoot this look from Pink Tartan. I wanted a look that had a cool downtown vibe with a hint of uptown chicness…and I think this was a success. Pink Tartan makes putting outfits together so simple because their collections always contain amazing and easy to coordinate separates. I have also noticed as of late, that pairing any outfit, even the most preppy of looks, with Chelsea boots, can immediately add some edge. Although I am usually in heels 4 inches plus, I have welcomed the comfort and ease of wearing a dope pair of flat boots.

The brand’s Founder and President, Kimberley Newport-Mimran launched gorgeous vegan leather pieces for Fall/Winter 2013 in the form of dresses, skirts, tops and even elbow pad detailing on sweaters (you an expect to see more of this fabulousness in their upcoming Spring/Summer 14 collection). The jury may still be out for some in regards to vegan leather but I am now fully on board. Although I will always be a fan of real leather, I love the fact that these items are machine washable!
