With 16 hour workdays, battling horrendous commuter traffic, late night events and stress from a demanding day job, I will admit at times its difficult to keep it together. When people ask me how I stay afloat, I tell them I credit my sanity to regular exercise, specifically yoga. When time permits, my go-to workout is a hot yoga class at one of Moksha Yoga’s various studios in the city. I am all about “Wellness Multitasking” when time is limited and practicing yoga in a heated space elevates the heart rate; which makes the body work harder, heavy sweating helps flush toxins out of the body, and heat allows your muscles to really warm up so you can approach the postures from a safe place. Last but not least, the intensity creates an excellent cardiovascular workout. Why is Moksha my go-to hot yoga studio? They say 15 minutes of exercise is better than no exercise at all and sometimes that’s all my schedule permits. When I need to de-stress and get centered with very little time, I turn to Traci Copeland’s new 15 minute Vinyasa Rush Studio Workout on the Nike+ Training Club app which you can download for free here. Requiring no equipment and very little space, I can squeeze in this quick workout at 5:30am at home before work, during lunch or while traveling.
