Welcome to my Blog! Happy to have you on the journey.

hello,

Burberry SS/14 Runway Collection

It is not often I review runway collections on my site, but Christopher Bailey’s latest collection for Burberry left me with no choice but to share it with those who were not fortunate to have attended the show earlier this week at London Fashion Week or missed the livestream. The British heritage brand is dedicate to marrying fashion with digital and social strategies, you may remember my post a couple months ago on the Burberry Kisses Campaign, the label’s innovation with Google. This time around they’ve teamed up with Apple in their pursuit to continue to merge physical and digital experiences and believe it or not, the all new iSight camera on the soon to be released iPhone 5s was actually used to film and share photos of behind the scenes, runway and post show footage.

The dreamy collection was filled with macaron hues of lavendar, cornflower blue, pale yellow with of course some neutrals tossed into the mix. The models, who strutted down the runway to the uber cool tunes of English indie singers George Ezra, James Bay and Jake Bugg, looked like sexy librarians in mixed prints and angels sent from above wearing organza shirts, cashmere jumpers, feminine lace dresses and sheer pencil skirts – which I hear will be toned down for the retail versions!

The highlight of the collection for me was undoubtedly the outerwear. Burberry, is obviously known around the world for it’s trench and military inspired coats which I adore, but these references were very minimal and the focus seemed to be on a more unstructured, voluminous silhouette , light merino wool and cashmere jackets with rounded shoulders in addition to brilliant belted coats with very open necklines.

To round out the jaw-dropping runway show, there were over-the-top skirts adorned with gargantuan coloured gems and stunning evening coats which the Designer says were inspired by bright dew drops on rose petals – also apparent in the collection’s evening bags *sigh* And just when I thought I might pass out from all the beauty, Brit-It Girl Cara Delevigne closed the show in a clear gem adorned jacket followed by pink rose petals falling from the ceiling during the finale walk. I was literally left breathless with goosebumps. You can preview the full collection here or catch the runway show livestream below…Enjoy!!!! xx
