Photography by George Pimentel – Holt Renfrew Sharp Magazine Fashion Week Event
This week I was lucky enough to attend runway shows during World Mastercard Fashion Week to review some of my favourite Spring/Summer 2014 collections for Toronto Fashion Academy. Choosing a look for a full day of shows at the tents and several evening events can sometimes be a daunting task, especially if you don’t plan to do a wardrobe change, therefore finding an outfit that can easily transition from day to night is critical. I recently signed on to become a brand ambassador for Caravelle New York, which is part of the world renown luxury watch family Bulova, and had the privilege of choosing a few pieces to wear throughout the week. The brand was born and raised in NYC and the latest collection for women really captures the essence, spirit, energy and fashion of the city. The best part…the well designed timepieces come in at such a good price point (between $69-$155), you can easily add a few to your collection guilt-free!
Taking a different approach to prepping my outfit for Day #1 at the tents, I decided to pick a watch first and build my look around it. This classic, chronograph gets an updated look with a black dial that really works well with the gold metal band. I usually steer clear from pieces with decorative add-on’s but this Swarovski bezel was done so tastefully and really makes the watch stand out.
To continue the theme from my watch, I opted for a black classic A-line skater dress with a long, frontal gold zipper and belted it to give my boyish figure some shape. The “Reflection Belt” was worn backwards to give the illusion that it was part of the dress!
