For majority of my adult years I’ve dreamed of wearing a tutu. To where exactly…? I don’t really know but I just knew that it had to happen before I got to the age when wearing a ballerina inspired outfit as an adult would no longer seem appropriate. This tutu obsession most likely came about because I was raised as a bit of a tomboy – there was no Barbie in my childhood and I never once attended a ballet class. So I guess my inner 8 year old girl has finally decided to show up over 20 years later…but better late than never right?!
The inspiration behind this look was The New York City Ballet and it’s opening night Fall Gala and there was only one person I could turn to who would knock the design out of the park; my talented gal pal Kathleen Pedro, the Toronto designer behind Brazen Hussy and custom leather menswear line, Concealed. She always gets my vision and we collaborated to make this stunning creation for me to wear the opening night of World Mastercard Fashion Week.
Because my outfit had a New York City theme and was slightly over-the-top, I decided to keep my accessories minimal and chose a watch from my new brand ambassador family, Caravelle New York. The dress was ultra feminine, so I wanted to juxtapose it with this masculine watch from the men’s collection. The black and gold combo is a classic look and the understated leather strap puts all the focus on the watch’s clean dial.
