With Coachella wrapping up this weekend, arguably the most fashionable of all music fests, I couldn’t help but get bitten by the festival fashion bug. And although today will be the last sunset for the festival goers that made the trek to the desert, we are just at the beginning of festival season. Whether you are attending Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, or Osheaga this year, boho chic clothing has been flowing into stores and with the help of my friends at Forever 21, I got to create my own DIY festival fashion look.
From what I’ve learned, there is an art to festival dressing, usually because these events take place during extremely hot times of the year, so being comfortable, staying cool during the day, and warm at night is key. I cut and slashed high waisted black denim shorts with the help of a few things laying around the house; a cheese grater, box cutter and tweezers – to create the perfectly distressed shorts. After a few hours of distressing, cutting and washing, I paired them with a burnout drop arm tank, kimono, comfy boots with crochet detailing and just the right amount of boho inspired jewelry.
