Frigid temps, slush and snow didn’t stop approximately 500 ladies, and a few fabulous men, from attending the Holt Renfrew Powder Puff Beauty Event with Into The Gloss Founder and Creative Director Emily Weiss, sponsored by Mercedes Benz. I am going to call a spade, a spade, I am not lover of “Old Man Winter” and almost bailed to stay indoors to cuddle with my puppy – but I came to my senses and thought, “How the hell could I miss meeting Emily Weiss aka “Super Intern” from former hit reality show, The Hills?” And just like that, I stepped into my YSL Tributes (the most illogical shoe choice for inclement weather conditions) and grabbed my fur and was off to the luxury retailer’s flagship store on Bloor.

For any beauty lover, man or woman, Holt’s was literally heaven on earth that evening – free mini manicures, complimentary make-up brush cleaning and make-up re-touching, combined with delsih passed canapes (think Chicken Waldorf Salad in miniature cones), Elder Flower mocktails, Mango Madness teas provided by David’s Tea, macaroons from Butter Avenue and the most refreshing detox juices from Belmonte Raw – I literally could have stayed forever!

My fabulous friends and I cruised the ground floor picking up perfume, make-up and Diptyque candles to add to my growing collection of room scents. But seriously, we were all there to see, hear and meet Ms. Weiss, who was interviewed by Holt Renfew’s Fashion Director, Lisa Tant. To be quite honest, it was extremely difficult to hear Weiss’ responses to Tant’s questions – either she’s incredibly shy or her mic wasn’t working properly, but what I did manage to pick up through strained ears is this…she began 2012 writing her blog in her studio apartment and by the end of the year it turned into a real website, she opened an office and hired 5 full-time staff, which clearly had every blogger in the room filled with inspiration.
