There once was a time where under no conditions was black and navy blue to be paired together – but thankfully times have changed. Roughly two years ago designers including Celine, Prabal Gurung, Carolina Herrera, Rachel Zoe, and Gucci begun to send looks that incorporated the combo down the runways and the trend carried through to this year and was seen all over red carpets during awards season!

Taking fashion cues from some of the men that successfully rocked a midnight blue tuxedo jacket this season such as; Kevin Spacey and Amar’re Stoudemire, I paired my menswear inspired navy tuxedo jacket by Phillip Lim with classic black 7 for all Mankind black skinny’s (that I have been religiously wearing to evening events lately) – and somehow was lucky enough to find a beautiful shoe that elegantly worked the colour combination into the design.
