New Toronto Hotspot Alert! The iconic 1Hotel brand has made its way to the 6ix. I’ve been fortunate to stay, dine and work at this beautiful new spot in the heart of our city on several occasions since it’s doors opened on August 4th, so I’m highlighting some of my favourite features that make this property unlike any other in Toronto.
Nature-Inspired, Sustainable Design
IMO, I find the suites and guest rooms are all perfectly designed for a good night’s sleep. Similar to my bedroom at home, you will find yourself surrounded by grounding, muted earth tones. Also, can you believe they managed to fit 3,300 real plants onto this property? I’m not saying this place was built for me but ya’ll know I FILL my condo with houseplants and you can literally feel the difference in the air when you step foot in this hotel from the bustling downtown core. You can also tell the individuals behind the design are obsessed with sustainability (as we all should be) and they’ve incorporated locally sourced reclaimed wood all over the place. You’ll even find plaques that tell you where in Ontario certain materials came from.
Perfect for Staycations or Celebrations of Any Kind
While many are beginning to enjoy traveling again, let’s not underestimate the power of a little staycation, especially after the last year and a half we’ve had and what better way to do it then in sustainable, luxury fashion. Maxwell herself hosted a pre-birthday staycation with her friends in adjoining suites. It’s seriously perfect for large families, girls weekends and bridal parties. Celebrate a special day with room service in your personal dining room, head down to the Flora Lounge (with one of the most aesthetically pleasing bars I’ve ever seen), dine in one of the 3 restaurants on site, or for a larger event consider host up to 40 guests in the Garden Pavillion. Honestly, this place is like an adult playground. Wait, did I mention the rooftop pool??
1Kitchen
In just over a month, 1Kitchen has already become the go to brunch, lunch and dinner spot alike for Toronto cool kids and families alike. Yes, at 41 I still consider myself a cool kid (don’t @ me) and have personally taken some lunch meetings here. As gorgeous and IG worthy as the dishes are, they measure up on taste as well. And you know we love to see a BIPOC executive chef.
Harriet’s
Run don’t walk to get a reso at the sickest new rooftop bar and restaurant in Toronto. Having just opened September 15th, you may have to book a couple weeks in advance, but it’s a gorgeous spot to catch the sunset at happy hour.
Coming soon…Casa Madera
It’s not even open yet but I may have saved the best for last. The Madera Group is famous for its immersive dining experiences that engage all 5 senses and this will be their first Canadian restaurant location. You can expect coastal cuisine influenced by Mexico and the Mediterranean and you can most definitely expect to see me there opening night!!
